Felting Workshop This workshop will begin by having a tour of the gardens and you will be invited to take pictures or making cuttings that will serve as inspiration for your felted landscape. I will demonstrate techniques for layering and color blending different types of wool's and fibers. You will be given the first part of the day to design and layout your wool image. You will be able to create a large wall hanging or table runner or scarf. For the second half of the day, I will demonstrate how to do the wet felting and you will spend the rest of the day felting. This is the part of the day where you will be working with water and lots of soap. If desired and time permits, you can sew accents like buttons, ribbons and bits of found objects on your landscape to enhance it. You can bring things from home or find bits of stuff from the studio scrap box. (It's a treasure trove) As you know artist never throw anything away. The last thing I will demonstrate is how to add a hanging rod or make other suggestions of how to hang and display your masterpiece. The artwork you create will not have to be framed, it can hang, just as you created it. We will end the class by sharing each other's art work and discussing things students learned during crafting it. I will be providing lunch and drinks for the day. I am a chef and make most cases I everything by hand. Lunch will be a foodie treat. The event will take place in my studio and will be shaded and bugs are not a problem. During the garden walks I will provide bug spray. The class has standing & sitting. Comfortable shoes good idea.
